1 Big Idea For...
Hi NK Team...
.
Congrats on the new business.
.
I could talk to you for an hour about all the ideas I have for you but today, I will focus on only one....the most important one.
.
Right now, the excitement is high.
.
Some of your posts are getting over 100 likes on Facebook.
.
Your menu got over 200!
.
This is very common for a new business that is doing a social media launch like you are.
.
Once you've opened and the excitement has died down, after awhile you'll see a huge drop off in response, primarily because FB wants you to pay for that exposure.
.
You must take control of your audience so that you aren't at the mercy of who FB shows your posts to and when.
.
It makes me sad when I see a Taco Tuesday post from a business on Wednesday or later...and I do see that every week!
.
The best way to take control of your audience is by starting a BIRTHDAY CLUB.
.
A Birthday Club gives you a way to collect the contact information of customers and prospects in a non-threating way.
.
At a minimum you'll want to collect name, email and birthday but attempt to get their physical address too.
.
Why?
.
You are surrounded by houses on Florence Dr, Edmund Dr, Hutchins Rd, Margaret Drive, The mobile home park and dozens more.
.
Knowing WHERE your customers live is a super power.
.
The uses are nearly endless....It's Florence Drive night at NK! All Florence Drive residents will get XYZ, tonight only!
>
Send that email just to the residents you have on the list.
>
You don't have that power with social media.
.
Yesterday was a snowy mess.
.
A Birthday Club email list would allow you to do things like this...
.
.
.
Again, you don't have that control with social media.
.
Even if you paid FB to promote your "Crappy Weather Coupon" you don't know who sees it or when.
>
.
You should start collecting the info NOW on social media BUT the most valuable list will be those people who actually come in and give you money.
.
EVERYONE who comes in should be asked to join the Birthday Club.
.
Have a printed QR code that leads to the signup. Have slips of paper for the old school people who don't have a smart phone.
.
.
Yes, asking EVERYONE to join is a hassle.
.
Yes, the staff will feel uncomfortable asking....they'll forget.
>
It's easy NOT to do in the frantic pace of a new business BUT in six months you'll be super grateful you have it.
.
If I had more time today, I could tell you...
.
1. How to get doctors, dentists & chiros to send you customers every week
.
2. How to get the phone to ring within 5 minutes of you wanting customers
.
3. How to make any advertising you might do, at least twice as profitable
.
4. How to do your own Groupon-style promotions and keep all the money for yourself
.
5. How to turn donation requests into a big money maker
.
6. How to make your employees a steady source of new customers
.
7. The perfect social media post that creates customers
.
8. How to mail a postcard to every address within 5 miles, for FREE!
.
9. How to get new customers from your old customers
.
10. Several ways to profit from birthday celebrations
.
I don't have time to elaborate on all these right now but I am happy to at any time.
.
Step 1...go to MailChimp.com or ConstantContact.com and start your list.
.
We all want to keep Dave Glastetter happy and keeping you in business will help. 🙂
.
We live in a very distracted society.
.
Sadly, good food and service is not enough to get people to come back.
.
YOU have to remind them.
>
That's quick and easy to do with a Birthday Club email list.
.
Several years ago I wrote an article called "How Birthdays Could Have Saved The Local Bakery" which I posted on LinkedIn. Click here to read that.
.
I just finished running a 12020 Valentine's Giveaway with 24 different businesses. You can see that here.
.
I'll let you know the next time we do something like that.
.
If you have any questions or need help implementing, please let me know.
.
Thank you,
.

P.S. Here are some of the local restaurants/food sellers who have email lists...
